NEC main Option picker

A few questions about how well-defined the work is, and who should carry which risk, lead you towards the main Options to look at first, and why.

Good to know

Is there a right answer?

Not on its own. Who carries the risk of cost changes depends on what you know now, and what your organisation can manage. Our guide to choosing a main Option goes further.

Does it cover the other forms?

Main Options differ by form. A Professional Service Contract has A, C, E and G, and a Term Service Contract has A, C and E. Short contracts have none. See our guides to PSC and TSC main Options.

General information in our own words, not legal advice. Your own contract decides.

Contract Status works out these dates and references for you on every contract, with your own periods and clauses. See the guided tour.
