Website terms
Last updated: 31 October 2026
These terms cover your use of this website. They do not cover use of the Contract Status software, which has its own terms that are accepted when an account starts using it.
Using this website
You may read and share this website's content for your own business or personal use. Do not copy it for resale, try to disrupt the website, or try to gain access to parts of it you have not been given.
Downloads
You may use, adapt and share our clause sheets, registers, letter templates and checklists within your own organisation and on your own contracts. Do not sell them, or republish them as your own. They are starting points: check them against your own contract before relying on them.
Tools, quizzes and role-plays
Our clause finder, deadline calculator, pickers, glossary, quizzes and role-plays are for learning and quick reference. A calculated date assumes the standard period unless you tell it otherwise, and your contract may differ. A quiz or role-play result, or a certificate of your score, is not a qualification or evidence of competence.
The guided tour
The guided tour is a working copy of the Contract Status software with a fictional account. All the names, companies and figures in it are invented. What you do in the tour is not saved, and it is a demonstration rather than a service.
Not legal advice
Our guides and other content are general information. They are not legal or contractual advice, and your contract always governs. Take professional advice on your own situation.
Accuracy and availability
We aim to keep this website accurate and available, but we do not promise that it will always be complete, up to date or uninterrupted. Descriptions of the software are for general information and do not form part of any contract. If you find a mistake, please tell us through our contact page.
Trade marks
NEC, NEC3 and NEC4 are trade marks of Thomas Telford Ltd. Contract Status is not affiliated with or endorsed by NEC. We do not reproduce NEC contract wording; explanations on this site are in our own words.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, we are not liable for loss arising from your reliance on this website's content, tools or downloads.
Privacy
Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal information, including what you send through our forms.
Changes and law
We may update these terms by publishing a new version here. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, whose courts have jurisdiction.
