The Contractor hasn’t given a quotation

Client side: Quotations

I instructed a quotation weeks ago. The date has gone and I have nothing. Can I move this on?

Where the contract stands

Yes. If there is no quotation in the time allowed, 64.1 makes the assessment the Project Manager's job, and it does not need the Contractor's co-operation (the same in NEC3 and NEC4). First check quotations were properly instructed. The assessment is due in the same period as a quotation, counted from when the need became apparent (64.3).

Read the guide: Contractor gives no quotation

This is our plain-English summary, not legal advice. Your own contract, including any Z clauses, decides.

In Contract Status, step by step

  1. See the passed date

The event shows the quotation due date and why that date applies, and the next step says you may proceed with a Project Manager Assessment.

Compensation event CE-0007 from the Client side showing quotation due, passed, and a next steps card offering a Project Manager Assessment

CE-0007: 3 weeks from the notification, under 61.2.

  2. Make the assessment

Enter the price and any movement in the Completion Date or Key Dates. It sits on the Quotations register against the event.

A Project Manager assessment for CE-0004 with value, Completion Date in force and movement

    PMA-CE-0004, an assessment already issued.

  3. See its effect

When it is notified, the event is implemented and the Completion Date timeline names the assessment as what set the date.

The Completion Date page with the contract date, the date in force and a timeline of compensation events

Each move in the Completion Date is tied to its event.

What happens next on the other side

The Contractor sees the assessment on the event, with the price and any change in dates. If a Project Manager's assessment itself is late, the Contractor has the same notice route (64.4).
