Clause finder

Type a clause number or a few words, pick your contract form and see what the clause covers, in plain English, with a link to a fuller guide where we have one.

Good to know

Which forms are covered?

NEC4: ECC, ECS, ECSC, ECSS, PSC, PSS, PSSC, TSC, TSSC, SC and SSC. NEC3: ECC, ECS, ECSC, ECSS, PSC, PSSC and TSC.

Why does the same number mean something else on another form?

Clause numbers move between forms and editions. Early warnings are clause 15 in the NEC4 ECC and clause 16 in the NEC3 ECC, for example, so always pick the right form first.

Is this the contract wording?

No. The descriptions are our own summaries. For the exact words, and for your Z clauses, go to your own contract.

General information in our own words, not legal advice. Your own contract decides.

Contract Status works out these dates and references for you on every contract, with your own periods and clauses. See the guided tour.
